What does Trial Opportunity Desk actually do?: We publish plain-language information about clinical research and let you browse general opportunity types. We do not run studies, decide who takes part, or provide medical advice.
Can you sign me up for a trial?: No. Every study is run by an independent program that sets its own protocol and its own participation criteria. If you ask us to, we can organize the interests you told us about and facilitate an introduction as a courtesy. That is not a guarantee of availability or acceptance.
What is informed consent?: It is the process where a study team explains the purpose, the schedule, what you would be asked to do, and the possible risks before you decide anything. You can ask questions, take the documents home, and step away at any point.
What happens during screening?: Screening is how an independent program reviews whether a study is a fit for you. It happens with that program, not with us. We never carry out screening or assessment.
What are study phases?: Research is usually organized in stages. Early stages involve smaller groups and focus on safety and how something behaves. Later stages involve larger groups and compare results across participants.
What protections do participants have?: Research is reviewed by independent ethics boards, and volunteers may leave a study at any time. Ask the study team who reviews their protocol and who to contact with concerns.
Do I have to sign up for text messages?: No. Text messages are entirely optional, you choose which categories you want, and nothing on this website requires them. You can reply STOP at any time to cancel.
Do you share my phone number with research organizations?: Mobile opt-in data, SMS consent, and phone numbers collected for SMS purposes are never sold, shared, rented, released, or transferred to third parties for marketing or lead generation. Sharing your contact details for a specific courtesy introduction requires separate, explicit consent.
Should I talk to my own doctor first?: Yes. We are not a healthcare provider, and nothing here is medical advice. Speak with your own licensed healthcare provider before deciding to take part in research.
